Alistair Banham is a global semiconductor industry veteran, with more than 30 years’ experience leading international business units. Prior to taking up the role as CEO at pureLiFi Alistair was Senior Vice President & GM of Customer Solutions Business Unit at Wolfson Microelectronics. At Wolfson Alistair was responsible for chip development, mobile systems strategy and driving strong engagement with tier 1 global accounts
Previously he held roles as SVP & General Manager EMEA (Europe Middle East & Africa) at Philips Semiconductors. Alistair was a founding member and President & GM EMEA of ON Semiconductor and played a leading role in the spin out from Motorola semiconductor and subsequent IPO.
During his time in the semiconductor industries, Alistair has been based out of key technology hubs from silicon valley (California) through to ASIA.
Alistair brings an element of skill to pureLiFi that will lead innovation and release new products to drive increased adoption with our global customers and key growth markets.
Professor Harald Haas: Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer
Harald is an international pioneer of VLC, a world-renowned expert in wireless communications and holds the Chair of Mobile Communications at the University of Edinburgh. Professor Haas was invited to speak at TED Global in 2011, was a finalist in the 2011 World Technology Awards and has recently received the prestigious Established Career Fellowship from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.
Mostafa Afgani: Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
Mostafa is a respected hardware and firmware engineer. A chief architect of VLC hardware platforms over the past three years, Mostafa holds three patents and has filed for two more in the VLC field. Prior to co-founding PureVLC he developed sensitive signal anomaly detection hardware for Agilent and held a research position at DoCoMo labs, Munich, Germany. Mostafa has BSc and MSc degrees in electronics from Jacobs University, Bremen, Germany and a PhD in communications and signal processing from the University of Edinburgh.
Harald Burchardt: Chief Operating Officer
Harald started working for pureLiFi as a communication systems engineer, working with major companies to assist them in integrating Li-Fi technology. Responsible for the operation and management of the company’s activities as a whole, including business development and sales, marketing, engineering and development, administration, recruitment and financials. His experience includes DoCoMo Euro-Labs and Rohde&Schwarz GmbH in Munich, Germany, holds a patent and has filed three more in the field of communications engineering. He has a BSc in electrical engineering and computer science from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany, an MSc in communications engineering from the Technical University of Munich, Germany and a PhD in digital communications from the University of Edinburgh.
Nikola Serafimovski: Director, Business Strategy
Nikola worked with major companies in the area of Li-Fi technology and commercialisation, leading the creation and cultivation of the Li-Fi ecosystem, marketing, sales and standrdization. His experience with T-Mobile and T-Home in Macedonia focused on mobile network deployment and analysis as well as database app development. Nikola worked for the UK-China Science Bridges project to successfully demonstrate the world’s first practical implementation of the Spatial Modulation MIMO concept. He received a BSc in electrical engineering and computer science and an MSc in communications, system and electronics, both from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. Nikola earned his PhD in digital communications and signal processing from the University of Edinburgh.
David Kirk: Advisory
David is a Silicon Valley veteran who has served at senior executive level with AOL and Cisco. His career in computer and networking technology spans almost four decades and includes major multinationals such as IBM, Amdahl and Tandem Computers before taking the lead in AOL’s worldwide launch and leading Cisco Systems global core software development team and enterprise voice business unit. Since 2002, David has been investing in technology start-ups and advising on early stage funding and operational growth.
